Malaysia Airlines Unveils New First-Class Cabin Redesign

Malaysia Airlines has reclassified its first-class cabins and will now market them as a premium business offering. There are no changes to the physical seats, cabin layout or onboard services.

Effective Dec. 12, the airline’s first-class sections on its Airbus A350-900 and A380-800 aircraft will be renamed Business Suite. These seats are deployed on routes such as London, Tokyo and Osaka, and on Sydney and Seoul services during the winter season.

Malaysia Airlines says the Business Suite will be offered “at an attractive price point for passengers” to meet increasing demand from corporate travelers, whose company policies often restrict travel in traditional first class.

The suites are configured 1-2-1. On the A350, four seats include a retractable privacy door, while the A380 features eight open suites. Passengers holding Business Suite tickets will have access to a dedicated check-in counter, the airline’s first-class lounge facilities, and a generous baggage allowance of up to 110 pounds.

The carrier emphasizes that there are no alterations to the seats themselves or to the onboard service, catering and entertainment options.

Izham Ismail, group CEO of Malaysia Airlines, said the change responds to rising guest demand: “The new Business Suite was introduced in response to the growing demand of our guests. Our target is to enable the frequent flyer, looking for enhanced comfort, to now be able to enjoy a premium experience at competitive prices. We are confident that our new Business Suite will change the way people travel in business class.”
