Travelers visiting Port Clinton, Ohio, on the shores of Lake Erie can step back in time at the Liberty Aviation Museum. Located at the Erie-Ottawa County Regional Airport, the museum’s collection features a fully flyable World War II North American B-25 Mitchell bomber that regularly appears at airshows with a trained pilot and crew. Last summer the museum expanded its collection with a second, fully restored B-25, affectionately known as Georgie’s Gal, joining the roster of historic aircraft and vintage vehicles.
The museum hosts events throughout the year. One highlight is the Cleveland tour tied to Airliner’s International (June 26–27), where scenic flights are offered aboard a Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander. After exploring the exhibits and watching aircraft in action, visitors can unwind at the Tin Goose Diner on site. This authentic 1950s diner was relocated from Pennsylvania and restored to its original appearance. The menu serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with aviation-inspired names, from Fighter Scramble eggs to Wing Walker pot roast.
