Starwood’s luxury Le Méridien brand is expanding into eastern Europe with its first hotel in the Republic of Georgia. Scheduled to open in 2018, the newly constructed 110-room Le Méridien Batumi will occupy space within the iconic Batumi Tower, a mixed-use development that also includes a casino and residential units.
“Le Méridien aims to reveal the spirit of every destination it enters,” said Michael Wale, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “This hotel will invite creative and curious travelers to explore Batumi’s culture, arts and cuisine.”
Located on Georgia’s southwest coast along the Black Sea, the hotel will sit in the heart of Batumi on the seaside boulevard, steps from the port and adjacent to the Dancing Fountains. The 110 contemporary guestrooms and suites will provide sweeping views of the Black Sea and will include the signature Le Méridien bed, generous workspaces and modern technology, all framed by refined, contemporary design elements.
The property’s modern architecture will complement Batumi’s evolving skyline and support the city’s role as a growing regional destination. Guests can expect design-forward public spaces, thoughtfully appointed accommodations and amenities aligned with Le Méridien’s focus on culture, discovery and creative programming that highlights local food, art and events.
Le Méridien Batumi’s central location on the boulevard makes it a convenient base for visiting nearby attractions, waterfront promenades and the port area. With panoramic sea views and proximity to the city’s entertainment and cultural offerings, the hotel is positioned to attract leisure travelers seeking a stylish coastal retreat as well as business guests visiting Batumi’s commercial and conference venues.
The introduction of Le Méridien to Batumi adds to Starwood’s regional portfolio and reflects broader interest in hospitality development across Georgia’s Black Sea coast. The hotel’s combination of contemporary design, ocean-view accommodations and a central waterfront address aligns with the brand’s commitment to offering culturally engaging stays that encourage guests to discover the destination.
