KLM Debuts Next-Generation Business Class Seat with Extra Comfort

Dutch carrier KLM has unveiled details of the new business-class seat that will be installed on its upcoming Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner fleet.

The airline has eight 787-10s on order and expects to introduce them into service beginning in June 2019, becoming the first European carrier to operate this variant of the Dreamliner.

The new Venture seat, designed by Japanese manufacturer Jamco, will be arranged in a staggered or “fishbone” configuration. This layout provides each business-class passenger with direct access to the aisle, improving privacy and convenience during boarding and in-flight service.

Each fully lie-flat seat will feature an 18.5-inch in-flight entertainment screen, a Do Not Disturb button on the armrest, and privacy partitions for center seats. KLM plans to install 38 of these business-class seats on every 787-10 in its fleet, balancing comfort and capacity for long-haul routes.

The announcement follows wider industry interest in the 787-10: Singapore Airlines recently became the launch customer for this model, placing an order for 49 aircraft. KLM’s adoption of the Jamco-designed Venture seat underscores the carrier’s focus on enhancing the passenger experience with modern, private, and comfortable seating for its premium travelers.
