KLM and Air Malta have signed a new codeshare agreement to give passengers more options and greater convenience. From this month, KLM will place its flight numbers and code on Air Malta services operating between Malta (MLA) and Amsterdam (AMS). As a result, KLM can now offer customers daily connections between Amsterdam and Malta, including through check-in for passengers traveling on connecting itineraries.
“This codeshare agreement comes at a particularly significant time for us as we celebrate 40 years of operations to Amsterdam Schiphol,” said Ursula Silling, Chief Commercial Officer at Air Malta. “We are very pleased with this new partnership and have worked carefully to put it in place to benefit our customers. Through the codeshare, our passengers gain access to many European and intercontinental destinations served by KLM. The agreement complements our existing codeshare with Air France, which provides international connectivity through Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Orly. Both Air Malta and KLM are committed to delivering superior service and improved customer satisfaction.”
The arrangement strengthens connectivity between Malta and the Netherlands while simplifying travel for passengers who need seamless transfers. By adding KLM flight numbers to Air Malta services, travelers booking through KLM can expect coordinated schedules and the convenience of through check-in when connecting to other KLM destinations. This makes trip planning easier for leisure and business travelers alike, and expands options for those seeking onward travel from Amsterdam.
For Air Malta, the codeshare builds on long-established operations to Amsterdam and enhances the carrier’s international network by linking it more closely with KLM’s extensive route system. For KLM, the agreement increases its presence on routes to Malta and adds flexibility for customers flying from Amsterdam to the Mediterranean. Both airlines emphasize a shared focus on reliability, passenger comfort, and streamlined ground processes to improve the overall travel experience.
Passengers should see the practical benefits of the codeshare in the form of coordinated schedules, simplified booking and baggage handling for connecting flights, and more seamless service when travelling between Malta and Amsterdam. As the partnership becomes operational, customers of both airlines will be able to take advantage of expanded connectivity across Europe and beyond, supported by the combined networks and customer service standards of KLM and Air Malta.
