Kinzie Hotel Chicago: Boutique Luxury Riverfront Stay Near Riverwalk

Chicago’s new Kinzie Hotel honors the city’s past through thoughtful design inspired by 19th-century Chicago and the life of early settler, businessman and fur trader John Kinzie.

The hotel’s interiors evoke the urban environment: the lobby features metallic grey iridescent tile that suggests rain-slicked streets, and a curated collection of works by local artists reflects Chicago’s varied cityscape. In each of the 215 guestrooms a historic pre–Great Fire navigational map serves as a striking focal point on the wall behind the bed.

Guest rooms are designed for comfort and productivity, offering generous workspaces, EcoSmart window shades and bathrooms with granite countertops. Located in the lively River North neighborhood, the Kinzie’s sleek interior also includes three modern meeting rooms, one of which is a boardroom named for Kinzie’s contemporary, Billy “Sauganash” Caldwell.

For informal gatherings after meetings, the Double Cross Lounge on the sixth floor provides a full-service bar and ample comfortable seating; the lounge is open until 8 p.m., making it an easy spot for guests to relax and socialize.
