Japan Airlines Debuts Airbus A350-1000 on Tokyo–LAX Route from June 30

Japan Airlines has announced the start date for its new Airbus A350-1000 to operate daily between Los Angeles (LAX) and Tokyo (HND), beginning June 30. The A350-1000 brings a refreshed cabin layout across four classes, with redesigned seats and enhanced privacy and comfort for international travelers.

The first class suite on the A350-1000 is designed to feel like a private room, complete with a door for seclusion and an adjustable sofa that converts into a single or double bed. Business class debuts fully private rooms on JAL’s international A350-1000s, featuring integrated headrest speakers, 24-inch monitors, and other tailored amenities for a quieter, more personal travel experience. Premium economy introduces the FIXBACK seat, engineered to provide a comfortable recline without intruding on the space behind.

Japan Airlines first deployed its A350-1000 on the New York (JFK)–Tokyo route in January 2024. The type is also in service on flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), London (LHR), and Paris (CDG), expanding JAL’s long-haul network with a consistent cabin product.

Replacing older Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with the A350-1000 is part of JAL’s effort to improve fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impact across its international fleet. To date, the airline has received nine of the 13 A350-1000 aircraft on order, continuing a phased rollout that pairs enhanced passenger comfort with improved operational performance.
