Your Business

What innovations or initiatives do you foresee in the industry over the next few years? Many transactional tasks will continue to be automated, and roles such as the traditional front desk are already being rethought by several hospitality brands. As technology handles more routine activities, hotels will increasingly become places for meaningful in-person interaction—spaces where guests can socialize, connect and meet interesting people. Hoteliers’ responsibilities will evolve toward creating memorable experiences and fostering genuine human connections.

Best career advice you’ve received: Keep the guest at the center of everything you do. That principle, from Horst Schulze [former president of The Ritz-Carlton], has guided my approach throughout my career.

What advice would you give someone starting out in the field? If you wake up excited about serving people, hospitality is the right industry for you. If that enthusiasm isn’t there, it may be worth considering another path. Passion for service is essential to thrive in this business.

François Luiggi as a Traveler

Favorite travel memory or story: Driving Australia’s Great Ocean Road stands out as an unforgettable experience—one of the world’s most scenic coastal routes. Riding the Ghan to Alice Springs and seeing the red sands of Ayers Rock was equally striking. Those journeys captured both dramatic landscapes and the spirit of adventure I love in travel.

One travel tip you cannot live without: Always travel with a sarong or similar versatile cloth, such as a shemagh or keffiyeh. It serves many functions: an eye mask or neck support on a plane, sun protection, a cover-up for changing temperatures, a convenient carrier for personal items, or even a makeshift towel. It’s a compact, multipurpose accessory that proves useful in countless situations.

Best advice for business travelers: Learn to pack smart. Anticipate delays or unexpected meetings by keeping an extra day’s worth of clothing in your carry-on. Planning for contingencies saves time and stress and helps you stay professional even when plans change.

Many rooms offer sweeping views of the Park and the New York skyline. Guests are just steps from luxury shopping on Madison and Fifth Avenues and within easy walking distance of Museum Mile. Our location balances immediate access to New York’s best attractions with a refined, tranquil retreat from the city’s pace.

What is Great Performances at The Pierre? What other unique amenities and offers are available? Entertaining guests has been part of The Pierre’s identity for decades. In the 1940s and 1950s, the hotel’s supper club presented condensed excerpts of popular Broadway shows. Today we revive that spirit with cabaret and jazz evenings in our Two E lounge. Once a month, Broadway at The Pierre presents intimate nights of songs and stories from cast members of beloved productions. On Thursday through Saturday evenings, Two E features live jazz piano by our resident artist, Antonio Ciacca.

Our culinary tradition remains central to the guest experience. Perrine serves seasonally inspired French‑American cuisine, while The Rotunda offers lighter supper options and tableside cocktails in an iconic setting. Our gourmet 24-hour room service includes Perrine’s full menu, Two E’s afternoon tea service and select Indian specialties.

Guests also enjoy daily complimentary coffee, tea and pastries in the lobby from 5–8 a.m.; on-site 24-hour valet and hand laundry; packing and unpacking service on request; and access to a complimentary Jaguar house car. From our white-gloved elevator attendants to our award-winning Les Clefs d’Or concierge team, we deliver attentive, personalized five-star service. As our Chief Concierge often says: the impossible will be done immediately, and the extraordinary will take a few moments longer.
