InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort Debuts Beach Reads Program

As more of our lives become constantly connected, uninterrupted, unhurried reading can feel like a rare luxury. According to a recent BBC forecast, literature-inspired travel will remain a notable trend into 2026. InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort has responded to this shift by launching a new Beach Reads program designed to help guests slow down and savor reading while on holiday.

As part of the initiative, the resort will select a rotating Book of the Month and notify guests about the featured title. Selections will span contemporary fiction, nonfiction, and time-honored classics. Guests may request a complimentary physical copy of the Book of the Month, which will be personally delivered by the Island Curator for a more intimate and curated experience.

The resort has also transformed several tranquil spots into dedicated Book Nooks intended for reflection and escape. Three areas were specially designed with readers in mind: shaded cabanas, a netted lounge suspended over the pool in the adults-only Retreat, and an overwater jetty swing—each offering a peaceful setting for uninterrupted reading.

Beach Reads goes beyond physical spaces. The resort added a question to its pre-arrival guest insight form so visitors can indicate preferred books, genres, or newspapers before they arrive. The Island Curator uses those preferences to assemble tailored reading selections that can be delivered on request, making each guest’s experience more personal and restorative.

To extend the program’s mindfulness ethos, guests receive plantable bookmarks as an eco-friendly keepsake. These biodegradable bookmarks can be planted after use as a simple reminder that small moments of calm and attention can have a lasting impact.
