In-Flight Entertainment That Supports Charity Donations

Throughout July, Hawaiian Airlines is inviting passengers to enjoy its in-flight entertainment lineup while supporting local causes. For every program viewed, the airline will donate one mile to benefit three Hawai‘i-focused nonprofits: Na Kama Kai, the Hawai‘i International Film Festival, and the Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Malama Hawai‘i initiative.

“As Hawai‘i’s airline, we are proud to share the many stories that make our island home so special,” said Evan Nomura, product manager of in-flight entertainment at Hawaiian Airlines. “Over the past year, we featured more than 300 programs that are about Hawai‘i, filmed here, or that spotlight local actors and filmmakers. This month we’re inviting guests to watch and, in doing so, help organizations that educate and inspire our community.”

Hawaiian Airlines provides complimentary in-flight entertainment across its trans-Pacific routes. Passengers traveling on Airbus A330 aircraft can use seat-back monitors in economy and 13-inch tablets in premium cabins. On the Airbus A321neo, guests can stream entertainment wirelessly to their personal devices via the Hawaiian Airlines app.

This month-long initiative not only highlights Hawaiian stories and talent but also channels viewer engagement into tangible support for environmental stewardship and cultural programs. Na Kama Kai focuses on marine conservation and coastal education; the Hawai‘i International Film Festival promotes local and international filmmaking with an emphasis on Pacific and Asian cinema; and Malama Hawai‘i, run by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, advances conservation and resource protection across the islands.

For travelers, this program is an easy way to contribute: simply watch any in-flight entertainment title during July and Hawaiian Airlines will register a donation of one mile on behalf of that viewing. The campaign encourages passengers to explore films, documentaries, and other programming that reflect Hawai‘i’s rich cultural and environmental heritage while directly supporting organizations working to preserve it.

With a broad selection of Hawaiian-focused content included in the in-flight catalog, passengers can discover local stories, music, and film talent while making a positive impact. The airline’s combination of complimentary entertainment and charitable giving aims to deepen connections between visitors, residents, and the islands they visit.
