Hyatt has announced plans for a new Alila-branded luxury resort in Europe. Named Alila La Gruyère, the resort is scheduled to open in 2023 in western Switzerland.
The proposed development will feature a high-end golf course, more than 100 guestrooms and private residences, several fine-dining options and an extensive wellness program designed to cater to both short-stay guests and longer residential visitors.
“The region of La Gruyère with its medieval Gruyères town is an ideal location for a brand that presents a contemporary interpretation of centuries-old traditions,” said Guido Fredrich, regional vice president of development for Europe, Hyatt. “The Alila brand is well suited to meet growing demand for eco-tourism and wellness travel. Travelers today seek meaningful, authentic experiences, and Alila aims to deliver intimate, memorable connections with the local culture and landscape.”
La Gruyère is celebrated for its picturesque scenery and strong culinary heritage, particularly its world-renowned cheeses and fine Swiss chocolate, making it a natural fit for a resort that emphasizes gastronomy and local traditions.
“This area already attracts weekend visitors as well as golf and wellness retreat guests because of its natural beauty,” said Urs Müller, general manager of Resort 4 SA. “By introducing the Alila concept, we aim to create a world-class destination that elevates the travel experience and complements the region’s existing appeal.” Resort 4 SA will manage the property.
The Alila brand is part of Hyatt’s global portfolio and currently operates properties across the United States, Indonesia, India, China, Cambodia, Malaysia and Oman. The addition of Alila La Gruyère represents Hyatt’s continued expansion in Europe and its commitment to luxury, sustainable hospitality that highlights local culture and environment.
