Hurtigruten Launches New North America Cruise Itineraries

Norwegian coastal and expedition line Hurtigruten will sail to North America for the first time with new East Coast itineraries launching in April 2018.

These routes showcase the varied character of the United States and Canada’s eastern seaboard, combining cultural highlights, protected natural areas, lively cities and classic southern destinations.

The line will offer 13-day northbound and southbound sailings between Halifax and Miami, visiting historic ports and dramatic coastal scenery with stops in Charleston, Boston, New York and Bar Harbor. A 16-day expedition will traverse the U.S. Northeast and Canada’s Atlantic coast, giving guests the chance to discover Newfoundland’s untouched landscapes, Maine’s small-town charm and the historic fortress of Louisbourg before arriving in New York.

For shorter options, an eight-day voyage from New York to Halifax will sail along Maine’s scenic shoreline and include guided hikes and excursions in and around Boston. Additional departures include a 14-day crossing between Halifax and Iceland and a 17-day sailing from Copenhagen to Halifax that calls on destinations in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Hurtigruten is known for reaching some of the world’s most remote destinations, letting travelers experience dramatic scenery and diverse cultures in a relaxed, exploratory atmosphere. The company is also notable for developing environmentally progressive ships, including work on the world’s first hybrid cruise vessel.
