How This Enterprise Scaled Global Operations: Strategy & Impact

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is expanding its airport and city operations into four additional countries: Poland, Turkey, Israel and Switzerland. The company has chosen independent rental operators across Europe and the Middle East to join its growing international car rental network, where Enterprise already has a presence in 23 countries.

“We want to ensure any location displaying the Enterprise name above the desk is accompanied by the exceptional level of service our customers have come to expect, and we also aim to reflect the regional needs and preferences of each country where we now have a presence,” said Peter Smith, vice president of global franchising for Enterprise.

Enterprise’s European footprint currently includes Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and the United Kingdom. The company plans to continue rolling out operations across Europe and the Middle East through the rest of the year.

The move builds on Enterprise’s strategy of partnering with local operators to combine consistent service standards with knowledge of local markets, aiming to offer travelers convenient, customer-focused rental options at both airports and city locations. By working with established independent businesses, Enterprise seeks to blend its global brand and service model with regional expertise and preferences.

As the network grows, customers can expect a wider selection of pickup and drop-off points, improved access to short- and long-term rentals, and standardized customer service practices across participating locations. Enterprise emphasizes training and quality control measures to ensure that newly affiliated sites meet the brand’s operational and customer service benchmarks before opening.

Expansion into Poland, Turkey, Israel and Switzerland represents part of Enterprise’s broader plan to strengthen its presence in key European and Middle Eastern markets. The company continues to evaluate opportunities for further partnerships and location openings, with the goal of making reliable, high-quality car rental services more accessible to both business and leisure travelers throughout the region.
