How Air France–KLM Streamlines the Check-In Experience

Air France–KLM has installed 765 new SITA self-service kiosks at Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. The upgraded kiosks provide faster, more intuitive check-in, let passengers print bag tags and enable the purchase of ancillary services, improving the overall airport experience.

SITA plans to expand the rollout to 50 airports, covering both Air France and KLM hubs as well as major French airports and selected international outstations. The new kiosks feature a modern user interface designed to increase self-service adoption and reduce queues at check-in counters.

“The initial feedback from our customers and station managers is very positive, with reports of increased availability, a better user interface and improved self-use ratios. This was a complex project that required focused collaboration between SITA and Air France–KLM teams. Ultimately, it has proven to be a real success,” said Nicolas Nelson, vice president of distributed services IS group, Air France–KLM Group.

The deployment emphasizes several operational benefits:

  • Faster throughput during peak periods by enabling more passengers to complete check-in independently.
  • Streamlined baggage handling with on-site tag printing that reduces processing time and passenger stress.
  • Increased access to paid upgrades and ancillary services at the kiosk, driving ancillary revenue while giving customers convenient options.
  • Improved reliability and availability of self-service points across terminals, reducing pressure on staffed counters.

By focusing on a consistent, user-friendly interface and broader kiosk availability, the airline group aims to raise self-service adoption and deliver smoother airport journeys. The program also supports airport operations by redistributing passenger flow and lowering the burden on staffed check-in areas.

As SITA continues to deploy the kiosks to additional airports, travelers can expect a more seamless pre-flight process with quicker check-in, straightforward bag-tag printing and easier access to paid services directly at the terminal.
