Stockholm’s landmark Grand Hôtel is undergoing an elegant transformation. Extensive renovations across the Burmanska Palace wing have refreshed the hotel’s spacious rooms and signature suites, including the renowned Princess Lilian Suite. The suite—featuring a large lounge, a spa area with exercise equipment, a private cinema, a kitchen and two terraces overlooking Lake Mälaren and the Royal Palace—has been updated with new parquet floors and a refined palette of gray-blue, cream and gold. Both bedrooms now showcase hand-woven carpets and carefully selected furnishings sourced internationally, and the suite includes a portrait of its namesake by artist Fabian Edstam.
Throughout the palace, the design emphasizes a subdued, sophisticated color scheme of royal tones, sand and blond that complements marble surfaces, stained woods and leather. Natural textiles such as wool and linen pair with brass accents and velvety curtains to create a layered, tactile interior. Lighting has been thoughtfully considered as well, with classic chandeliers and contemporary fixtures working together to bathe public areas and guest rooms in a warm, inviting glow.
The renovations aim to preserve the Grand Hôtel’s historic character while introducing modern comforts and updated finishes. Attention to detail—quality materials, custom carpets and curated artwork—reinforces the hotel’s reputation for refined hospitality. Guests staying in the refurbished suites can expect both timeless elegance and contemporary amenities, making the property a standout choice for visitors seeking luxury in the heart of Stockholm.
