Each year Global Traveler partners with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to support critical research and patient services. Through this collaboration we aim to make a measurable difference in the lives of people affected by blood cancers.
There are approximately 1.2 million people in the United States living with or in remission from leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. Every day, hundreds of families are touched by these diseases: an estimated 155 people die daily, and about one new diagnosis occurs every three minutes. Blood cancers affect people of all ages and backgrounds, including children, men and women of every race and lifestyle.
Thanks to decades of research funded and supported by LLS, survival rates have dramatically improved. Over the past 50 years survival for many blood cancers has increased fourfold, and countless patients now go on to live healthy and productive lives. LLS continues to be a beacon of hope for patients, caregivers and families seeking treatment, information and support.
In 2016 Global Traveler is honored to serve as LLS’s Diamond Honoree, recognizing sustained, wholehearted support for the society’s mission. With the generosity of corporate partners and readers, we have previously raised nearly $1 million to advance LLS programs. This year we are raising the bar again to further support life-saving research and patient services.
From March 1 through May 1 our annual online charity auction will feature an array of travel-focused prizes and experiences. Each item is curated with the frequent traveler in mind, offering airline tickets, luxury hotel stays, resort packages, and exclusive experiences. Every dollar raised by the auction will go directly to LLS to fund research, education and patient support initiatives.
