There’s a lot that can go wrong with airline schedules — unpredictable weather, mechanical issues, and even difficult fellow passengers. Freebird helps make canceled or delayed flights and missed connections far less stressful.
Freebird is a straightforward mobile solution that lets travelers avoid long customer-service lines and quickly secure a new ticket on any airline with just a few taps on their phone.
Here’s how it works: before a business trip or vacation, log in to Freebird, enter your flight information, and pay a one-way fee of $19 or a round-trip fee of $34. If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, Freebird sends a text message with rebooking options at no extra cost. Choose the flight you want, and Freebird takes care of the booking so you can get on your way.
Freebird simplifies the travel recovery process by allowing passengers to bypass airport lines and long hold times, and by reducing the risk of expensive last-minute fares. The service is also useful for corporate travel managers and travel agents, enabling them to oversee multiple employee or client itineraries from a single, easy-to-use portal.
With $5 million in new funding from venture capital firms General Catalyst and Accomplice, Freebird plans to expand its presence in corporate travel.
“Freebird is really onto something,” said Joel Cutler, managing director at General Catalyst. “Interruptions in air travel are more common than any of us like. Freebird’s ability to detect problems and create instant alternatives is gaining strong traction with travel management companies and their corporate clients. It’s easy to see how the service becomes a must-have for anyone looking to remove hassle from their travels.”
