As part of its latest marketing campaign, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau is promoting the idea that Taiwan can be enjoyed even during a 24-hour stopover. To demonstrate, the bureau offers two complimentary half-day tours to eligible transit passengers among the roughly two million travelers who pass through the country each year.
The half-day tours run in both the morning and the afternoon. The morning itinerary highlights Shou Sin Fang Creativity Wagashi and Cultural Center and a visit to Sanxia and Zushi Temple. The afternoon tour features Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Longshan Temple. Each route is designed to showcase Taiwan’s rich culture, distinctive cuisine, historical sites and notable architecture.
Transit passengers holding valid R.O.C. visas or arriving from visa-exempt countries may join the complimentary tours. To qualify, layovers must be at least seven hours. Tours can be reserved at Taoyuan International Airport, and groups are limited to a maximum of 18 travelers per tour to ensure a quality experience.
In addition, travelers from the United States and Canada have an opportunity to win one of four prizes: a one-night stay at Sunworld Dynasty Hotel Taipei, an exclusive half-day tour not included in the standard offerings, a limited-edition MRT card, or a dinner and dessert at 72 Beef Noodle and Ice Monster. Entry in the prize drawing does not require participation in a half-day tour; contest registration is open through June 30.
