Four Seasons Expands to Seychelles with Luxury Island Resort Acquisition

Four Seasons has announced it will take over the only resort on Desroches Island in the Seychelles. Located about a half-hour flight from Mahé, the Seychelles’ capital (SEZ), the island resort will reopen next year following renovations as Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island.

The revamped property will feature 40 beach suites and 11 private residence villas, designed to be among the brand’s most secluded offerings. Each beach suite will provide direct access to the shoreline and ocean, private plunge pools and generous outdoor living areas, emphasizing privacy and a strong connection to the island’s natural setting.

Ali Albwardy, chairman of Desroches Island Developments Limited, said he was captivated by the island the moment he arrived, describing it as remote, unspoiled and beautiful. He added that Desroches would be a natural complement to the existing Four Seasons Resort Seychelles on Mahé.

J. Allen Smith, president and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, noted that the Mahé property is one of the company’s most desirable and that opening a second Four Seasons on Desroches represents a deeper commitment to the destination. He said the partnership with Desroches Island Developments Limited aims to create a unique island hideaway that upholds Four Seasons’ standards of quality and personalized service.

The resort’s facilities will include two restaurants, a lounge bar, a six-suite spa and a marine conservation discovery center. A giant tortoise sanctuary will also be part of the guest experience, reflecting the island’s focus on conservation and wildlife.
