Finnair is partnering with leading Finnish restaurants to introduce signature menus on its long-haul flights. The new culinary offerings will be available in business-class cabins on flights departing from Helsinki beginning January 2015.
Created by chefs from notable Finnish restaurants Nokka, G.W. Sundmans, Savoy and Fishmarket, the signature menus emphasize seasonal ingredients and bold, inspired flavor combinations. Menus will rotate every three months to reflect changing seasons and the chefs’ creativity.
“We received very positive feedback from customers about our earlier collaborations with top Finnish chefs, and we want to continue offering memorable culinary experiences while showcasing Finland’s high-level gastronomy on our long-haul services,” says Maarit Keränen, Head of Service Concept at Finnair.
“All participating restaurants are part of Royal Restaurants, and each signature menu highlights the distinctive style and recognizable touch of the chef behind it,” says Mia Saari, restaurateur at Royal Restaurants.
The program begins with a signature menu by Matti Jämsén, Executive Head Chef of G.W. Sundmans, featuring dishes such as whitefish, glazed pork cheek and cod that reflect seasonal produce and refined, contemporary Finnish cooking.
Finnair’s initiative aims to elevate the onboard dining experience for business-class passengers by combining professional airline service with the creativity and local flavors of Finland’s top chefs, offering travelers a taste of Finnish culinary tradition at 30,000 feet.
