The new expedition outfitter Gift of Go (GOGO) emphasizes “Adventures without Tourism,” launching expeditions into Brazil’s remote Serra do Espinhaço. Between March and September, travelers can select from 14-, 21- or 28-day Diamonds/Wild Tales + Lost Trails journeys designed for small groups of up to eight participants.

“We are living in an era of picture-perfect destinations and carefully curated ‘authentic’ experiences,” says Eddie Lott, GOGO cofounder. “GOGO trips take a different approach. There is nothing more compelling or enriching than encountering real life in places far from our own. Our shared mission is to explore a region as fully as possible within a limited timeframe — ambitious, but what makes these journeys memorable.”

Guided by a team of more than ten travel experts and expedition leaders, participants explore the UNESCO World Heritage city of Diamantina, colonial mining towns, small agricultural communities, historic railway towns, elegant villas and remote settlements known as quilombos. The itineraries emphasize meaningful encounters with local people, regional history and the landscapes that shaped them.

Activities on these expeditions include bushwhacking, horseback riding, off-roading and trekking, combined with deep cultural immersion. Each itinerary is structured in chapters; the Diamond route is organized into The Serra (mountains), The Garden (hinterland), The Sertão (lowlands) and The Berço (the cradle). Accommodations vary to reflect local character and comfort, ranging from homestays and historic inns to wilderness campsites, pousadas, lodges and restored historic homes.
Small-group logistics, expert-led experiences and thoughtfully paced chapters allow travelers to experience both well-known and lesser-seen corners of the Serra do Espinhaço. Emphasis on local engagement and authentic day-to-day life aims to move beyond superficial sightseeing toward trips that feel immersive and transformative. With options of different durations, travelers can choose an itinerary that suits their schedule while still experiencing the region’s geological diversity, cultural heritage and tranquil backcountry.
GOGO’s approach blends active exploration with opportunities to learn from local hosts and specialists, creating a balance between adventure and cultural context. The result is an expedition-style offering for travelers seeking more than a checklist of highlights — a journey designed to leave participants with lasting impressions of place, people and landscape.
