Etihad Expands Flights to Kathmandu — New Routes & Schedules

Etihad Airways will expand its Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Kathmandu (KTM) service from seven weekly flights to two flights daily beginning Nov. 1. The additional frequencies will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, increasing seat capacity and connectivity between the two cities.

Kevin Knight, Etihad’s chief strategy and planning officer, said the expanded schedule will strengthen commercial and cultural ties between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates and support continued growth in passenger traffic between Kathmandu, Abu Dhabi and onward to destinations across Etihad’s global network. Since launching the route in 2007, Etihad has carried more than 620,000 passengers on the AUH–KTM sector.

Operating from its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Etihad currently serves 94 passenger and cargo destinations. The frequency increase on the Kathmandu route is part of the airline’s broader strategy to enhance connectivity in South Asia while offering travellers more options for both business and leisure travel.

Passengers on the expanded service can expect the standard cabin offerings for A320 operations, along with Etihad’s network connections through Abu Dhabi that provide smooth transfers to long-haul flights. The extra daily departures will give travellers greater flexibility in scheduling and improved access to onward connections across the carrier’s route map.

The move also reflects growing demand for travel between Nepal and the U.A.E., driven by business links, tourism and the large expatriate community. By increasing frequencies, Etihad aims to better accommodate peak travel periods and to make it easier for customers to plan round trips or connect to other international destinations via Abu Dhabi.
