Etihad Airways is increasing capacity on its Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Munich (MUN) route, expanding from seven weekly flights to a twice-daily schedule to meet rising demand for one of its most popular European destinations. The additional frequency will be served using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, matching the current daily service configuration with eight first class seats, 32 business class seats and 191 economy seats.
This capacity increase aims to support growing two-way demand and strengthen Etihad’s presence in the German market. According to James Hogan, president and CEO of Etihad Airways, the move also adds depth and scale to the airline’s operations in Germany and improves connectivity with partner airline airberlin. With the new flights in place, Etihad and airberlin will together provide a combined total of 49 weekly services to German cities, operating from Munich, Frankfurt (FRA), Berlin (TXL) and Düsseldorf (DUS).
The expanded schedule offers travelers enhanced flexibility for both business and leisure travel, giving more options for departure times and improved connections through Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub. The consistent use of the A330-300 on this route ensures a familiar onboard experience across cabins, while the increased frequencies support demand during peak travel periods and offer greater choice for passengers connecting to other global destinations.
For travelers seeking premium comfort, the first and business class cabins maintain Etihad’s elevated service standard, while the larger number of weekly departures helps accommodate passengers in economy without compromising service levels. The move also reflects Etihad’s broader strategy to grow key international markets and reinforce partnerships that expand network reach and connectivity.
