I hadn’t visited Las Vegas in years before Vdara Hotel & Spa opened on the Strip between ARIA Resort & Casino and the Bellagio. Vdara brings a calmer energy to the Strip with an all-suite, non-gaming, smoke-free and eco-conscious approach. During a hectic three-day trip for a conference, it provided the quiet retreat I needed to recharge.
After three days of press briefings, meetings and events following an intense travel stretch, I craved quiet and restoration. The two-story ESPA at Vdara offered just that. As the first ESPA in Las Vegas, it delivers globally recognized treatments and natural products that create a holistic sanctuary amid the city’s bright lights.
ESPA operates spas across five continents and focuses on natural skincare designed to produce visible results for men and women. The product line is 99 percent natural and sourced from high-quality ingredients, and it is formulated without synthetic color, synthetic fragrance, parabens, phthalates, silicone, DEA, TEA, mineral oil, propylene glycol or petrolatum. ESPA also invests heavily in therapist training, which ensures consistently professional and attentive service.
I booked my treatment at the last minute, and the busy spa had only an 8 a.m. opening. That early slot fit perfectly with my afternoon flight home, allowing me a peaceful start to the day and enough time to attend a few meetings and get to the airport without rushing. With limited time, I chose the 50-minute personalized massage, though the signature 110-minute therapies were tempting.
Two notable signature treatments are On the Rocks, which begins with body brushing and a spearmint body polish and continues with essential oils, hot stones and a finishing scalp massage using ESPA’s Hair & Scalp Mud; and Desert Rose, which includes a salt scrub, a personalized massage, a scalp massage and an application of Smooth and Firming Body Butter. The spa menu also features body rituals, facials, 25-minute express treatments and therapies tailored specifically for men.
I arrived about 30 minutes early. Guests enter through the spa’s retail and juice bar area, where items are available to purchase or sip. Check-in was quick, and I was escorted upstairs to a small sitting area with magazines, snacks and beverages, which leads into the generous locker-room and bathroom facilities.
ESPA at Vdara is exceptionally well stocked. While most spas offer basic amenities for freshening up after treatments, this location provides an extensive selection of products and beauty tools, including hair straighteners and curling irons. Each locker even includes a toothbrush and toothpaste. The spa clearly caters to both guests who plan to linger and those who need an efficient, on-the-go experience.
As I changed into my robe, a placard suggested a “digital detox.” The gentle reminder to set aside phones and devices reinforced the spa’s intent: this is a moment to unwind. I left my phone in my locker, as I always do at a spa, and appreciated the uninterrupted time to recharge — a small but important reset before returning to work and travel.

While waiting for my therapist, I relaxed on a warmed lounger near the sauna, steam room and hot tub and nearly dozed in the soothing heat. The spa also offers a quiet meditation room for deeper relaxation. The warm loungers and soft lighting quickly put me at ease.
Shortly afterward, in a calm lounge area furnished with couches and muted tones, my therapist greeted me and led me to the treatment room. The personalized massage is tailored to individual needs, combining advanced techniques to address muscle tension and stress. My therapist asked about my job, travel schedule, workout routine and common areas of discomfort to identify where treatment would be most beneficial. We also bonded over our mutual ties to the Philadelphia area.
Before the massage, I selected my preferred body oil scent from a choice of six. I chose the Fitness oil, formulated to relax and ease aches while drawing nourishing moisture into the skin. My therapist then focused on areas where I carried tension — the shoulder I use for bags, the arm I pull my suitcase with and the places I hold stress — using medium pressure and a blend of Swedish and hot-stone techniques. She worked through pressure points across my body and offered a few simple self-care suggestions for lingering tight spots she wished she’d had more time to treat.
The massage was perfectly suited to my needs. I left ESPA at Vdara feeling lighter, less tense and with noticeably more energy and ease in my movements.
