Disney World Announces DisneyQuest Closing on July 3

Walt Disney World Resort officials announced that DisneyQuest will close to the public on July 3. Opened in 1998, DisneyQuest was an indoor interactive entertainment complex that occupied five floors and combined classic arcade games, virtual-reality attractions, and high-tech interactive experiences. Guests could enjoy everything from pinball and traditional arcade cabinets to large-scale virtual environments like CyberSpace Mountain.

DisneyQuest has been a notable part of the Disney Springs entertainment district for years, but the space will soon be repurposed. The NBA Experience, which previously operated at Universal CityWalk, is scheduled to take over the DisneyQuest location in Disney Springs. Designed to place guests in the middle of basketball action, The NBA Experience promises a mix of immersive video productions, hands-on interactive attractions inspired by the sport, a themed restaurant, and retail offerings centered on the NBA brand.

At the time of the announcement, Disney had not provided an opening date for The NBA Experience. When it does open, the attraction will join several recent additions that have reshaped Disney Springs into a more diverse destination for dining, shopping, and entertainment.

The conversion of DisneyQuest into The NBA Experience is part of a wider, multi-year transformation of Disney Springs. Over recent years the district has seen the arrival of multiple new restaurants, specialty retailers, and entertainment venues intended to broaden its appeal to families, tourists, and local visitors alike. The redevelopment efforts aim to balance popular brand-driven attractions with distinctive dining concepts and unique retail experiences.

Fans of DisneyQuest will remember it as a compact but ambitious venue that offered a range of attractions within an urban indoor setting. The shift to a sports-themed entertainment concept reflects changing trends in location-based entertainment, where IP-driven, immersive experiences and branded attractions have grown increasingly common. The NBA Experience is being marketed as a highly interactive concept that leverages the league’s global popularity, offering guests a chance to engage with basketball content and activities in ways not possible at a traditional arena.

Disney Springs continues to evolve, and the replacement of DisneyQuest by The NBA Experience highlights how the district is adapting to new visitor interests while continuing to expand its entertainment portfolio. Until an official opening date is confirmed, guests interested in the new attraction should watch for updates from Walt Disney World Resort. In the meantime, Disney Springs remains home to numerous dining and shopping options that have been introduced as part of the area’s ongoing redevelopment.
