Discover Secluded Brazilian Beach Paradise at Pousada Vento Vinte

Pousada Vento Vinte sits on Emboaca Beach in northeast Brazil, roughly two hours from Fortaleza and Pinto Martins – Fortaleza International Airport. This intimate, family-run pousada offers distinctive architecture and about 367 feet of Atlantic beachfront. To the south a state highway provides easy access, while to the north protected dunes preserve the natural landscape under Brazil’s environmental laws.

The property’s bungalows are positioned approximately 95 feet from the shore, offering unobstructed ocean views. A small oceanfront restaurant and bar on the grounds serves guests, making the pousada a relaxed option for travelers seeking an authentic, low-key seaside escape.

Local firm Lins Arquitetos designed the development to preserve a coconut grove that covers the site. The architects placed the guest bungalows and a compact reception building among the palms, integrating the built forms into the natural setting rather than replacing it. This approach retains the existing vegetation and brings guests closer to the landscape.

There are 10 bungalows in operation with two additional units due to open soon. These occupy the eastern section of the property, while parking and guest services are located to the west. For privacy the pousada is enclosed by a low, four-foot fence made from quince, a native regional wood.

The designers chose circular forms for the bungalows and a curved guest services building with an elliptical reception area. Each bungalow faces the prevailing winds so sea breezes enter on one side and cross-ventilate the interior through opposite openings, reducing the need for mechanical cooling.

Northeast Brazil has a tropical climate with a rainy season from January through July and a dry season from August through December. Constant, moderate onshore winds help temper the heat. Average temperatures throughout the year typically range between 76 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

Each bungalow features a front balcony surfaced in cariri, a regional limestone, which serves as a relaxed social space for watching the sea. Rooms include private bathrooms and nearby open-air showers. Inside, a gently curving staircase provides higher vantage points and 360-degree glimpses of the surroundings.

Construction uses a rafter slab foundation: a concrete slab system supported by columns, walls or steel reinforcement that forms the bungalow floors with a polished finish. Exterior walls are built of solid ceramic brick, plastered and painted, with glass windows set in frames of muiracatiara, a dense Brazilian hardwood from the Amazon.

Rates generally include breakfast; a typical overnight rate is about $130 for two people. The pousada’s restaurant offers affordable, flavorful Brazilian lunches and dinners. Nearby coastal villages such as Guajiru are only about six miles away by car and provide additional dining options. Pousada Vento Vinte opened in 2023.

Guests can enjoy a range of activities on site and nearby: surfing the beach, taking kitesurf or wing foil lessons with local instructors, exploring the coastline on buggy tours, or booking an on-site massage. Evenings are often spent on private balconies listening to bossa nova, sharing a cold Brahma beer or a Caipirinha under clear, starry skies.
