Delta Air Lines is piloting a new customer-service feature at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Five interactive digital stations have been installed at a Delta Sky Assist location, enabling travelers to connect with Delta specialists via live video chat directly from the terminal. This marks a first for U.S. carriers. To start a session, customers lift a telephone receiver and tap the screen to initiate the video conversation.
“More and more people are choosing video chat to connect in their everyday lives, so we wanted to bring that channel to Delta customers. We have the best specialists in the business — and now, they’ll be able to deliver customer solutions in an even more personal, face-to-face way,” said Charisse Evans, vice president, reservations sales and customer care, Delta Air Lines.
In addition to the airport innovation, Delta is rolling out enhancements onboard. Beginning today, Delta One customers will receive upgraded TUMI amenity kits. For the first time in the airline industry, travelers can personalize their kit with a monogrammed patch on the front of the case. The refreshed contents include a hand cleanser, a mouthwash stick, TUMI-branded eyeshades and updated striped socks, reflecting a focus on both comfort and practical essentials.
“Every detail incorporated into our TUMI amenity kit has been thoughtfully selected with our customers’ needs and preferences in mind — no matter how big or small. We are excited to offer customers the ability to monogram their amenity kits and create a personalized souvenir to take with them as they jetset across the globe,” said Allison Ausband, senior vice president, in-flight service, Delta Air Lines.
The distribution of the kits is differentiated by direction of travel: outbound flights departing the United States receive a silver, hard-sided TUMI kit, while inbound flights arriving to the United States are provided a black, soft-sided version. Together, the video-enabled Sky Assist stations and the upgraded amenity kits underscore Delta’s effort to blend personalized service with practical enhancements, both at the airport and in flight.
