British Airways and ClassPass have partnered to help Americans keep their New Year’s resolutions for 2017. ClassPass, the subscription service that provides access to a large network of boutique fitness studios and gyms, is rolling out offers designed for travelers who also want to stay fit while on the road.
A British Airways–commissioned survey found many Americans struggled to meet travel and fitness goals in 2016. Nearly 30 percent said they resolved to travel more, yet about one in three did not reach that goal. Of the 61 percent who set out to live healthier lives, more than half abandoned their resolutions. Overall, roughly 60 percent of respondents stopped making progress within three months, and fewer than 10 percent maintained their resolutions all year.
The survey also showed that healthy dining options matter to travelers: 34 percent look for airlines and hotels that offer nutritious menu choices. On long-haul British Airways flights, customers can request a variety of special meals, including low-fat, low-calorie, low-salt, vegan and gluten-free options.
To make travel and health goals easier to achieve, British Airways is offering flight-and-hotel packages from U.S. gateways to London and select European cities. Packages that include travel to London (LGW, LHR) start at $689 per person, inclusive of taxes, fees and carrier charges, based on travel from New York (JFK). That price includes round-trip World Traveller economy airfare and five nights at the Tune Hotel, Paddington.
Travel to Paris (CDG) begins at $699 with accommodations at the Pavillon Monceau. Comparable packages are available from other U.S. gateways to destinations such as London, Rome (FCO), Paris and Barcelona (BCN), with a variety of hotels. These promotions are bookable through tomorrow for travel in February; additional travel dates from March 24–Nov. 30 are available at different price points.
“What better way to start off the New Year than to plan a trip to Europe and experience great culture, world-class entertainment and terrific shopping,” said Simon Brooks, senior vice president, North America, British Airways. “With the strength of the dollar your money will go further, so there’s never been a better time to visit for those with resolutions to travel more and save this year.”
Customers who take advantage of the British Airways and ClassPass offers can access fitness classes in London from a selection of more than 150,000 monthly class slots. New British Airways customers to ClassPass may receive 70 percent off their first month on eligible plans from select gateway cities. Existing ClassPass members can book classes while traveling in any of the brand’s 39 cities, making it easier to stay active on the go.
