Marriott’s Autograph Collection Hotels has reopened the Hotel Elephant Weimar following an extensive nine-month renovation. Situated on the city’s historic market square, the property has served as a cultural landmark for three centuries and now returns with a refreshed identity that honors its past.
The boutique hotel features just under 100 guestrooms, each redesigned to reflect the building’s legacy. Interior design draws on the refined elegance of 1920s Germany and pays tribute to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, one of the nation’s most celebrated literary figures, whose influence is woven through the hotel’s aesthetic touches.

Guests can make use of an in-house cultural concierge who offers tailored recommendations for exploring Weimar’s cultural attractions, including the city’s array of UNESCO World Heritage sites. The concierge team helps curate experiences that connect visitors with local history, museums and performances.
Dining at the hotel centers on Restaurant AnnA, which highlights regional ingredients and authentic local flavors in thoughtfully composed dishes. The restaurant extends to a garden terrace for alfresco dining during suitable weather, offering a relaxed setting in the heart of the city.
Public and social spaces are designed to foster cultural engagement. A dedicated cultural hub houses a curated art collection and presents a regular program of concerts, readings and theatrical performances, creating an active calendar that complements Weimar’s artistic heritage.
In addition to its public programming and dining, the hotel will introduce a modern wellness area in February, featuring a contemporary sauna and fitness facilities to support guests seeking relaxation or an active routine while traveling.
