American Airlines Announces New International Routes for 2020

American Airlines has announced new summer 2020 routes.

Beginning June 4, 2020, American will operate non-stop service between Philadelphia (PHL) and Casablanca (CMN), Morocco. As of May 7, 2020, the carrier will add flights from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Krakow (KRK), Poland, and Budapest (BUD), Hungary. Starting May 8, 2020, Chicago will also gain service to Prague (PRG), Czech Republic. A new route from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Tel Aviv (TLV), Israel, will begin on Sept. 9, 2020.

The Philadelphia–Casablanca flight will be the only non-stop option to Casablanca offered by a U.S. carrier and marks American’s first scheduled service to the African continent. The Casablanca route will operate three times weekly.

“Our customers and team members have been asking when we’re going to start service to Africa, and I couldn’t be more pleased to make this announcement for service beginning in 2020,” said Vasu Raja, vice president of network and schedule planning at American Airlines. He noted that Royal Air Maroc’s expected entry into the oneworld alliance in 2020 will enable expanded connections within Africa to cities such as Marrakech, Lagos and Accra.

The Casablanca route is seasonal and will operate through Sept. 8, 2020. The new services to Krakow, Prague and Budapest are also seasonal, running through late October 2020. The Dallas–Tel Aviv route is scheduled as a year-round service.
