Alitalia Launches Direct Flights Between Rome and Havana

Italy’s national airline, Alitalia, is launching new non-stop service between Rome Fiumicino Airport and José Martí International Airport in Havana, joining other carriers expanding routes to Cuba.

Starting November 29, Alitalia will operate twice-weekly flights on its Boeing 777, offering direct connections on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This schedule aims to provide both leisure and business travelers with convenient access to Havana from Rome.

Cramer Ball, CEO of Alitalia, said the new route reflects the airline’s strategy to strengthen its long-haul network and to create more travel opportunities for Italian passengers. “Tourism and business in Cuba have great growth prospects for Italians and this new service to this wonderful island will go toward fulfilling that ambition,” he stated.

Flight times are designed to suit international connections. On Tuesdays the service departs Rome at 9:05 a.m. and arrives in Havana at 3:00 p.m. Cuba time; the return flight departs Havana at 5:00 p.m. and arrives in Rome at 9:00 a.m. the following day. On Saturdays the outbound flight leaves Rome at 10:30 a.m., arriving in Havana at 4:30 p.m., while the return departs Havana at 6:30 p.m., landing in Rome at 10:30 a.m. local time.

With this addition, travelers from Italy gain a direct, scheduled option for visiting Havana for tourism, cultural visits, and business engagements, simplifying planning with regular, predictable service.
