Air Tahiti Nui, the primary carrier serving Tahiti’s Faa’a Airport (PPT), has opened a new passenger lounge designed to reflect the airline’s Polynesian roots and deliver a relaxed, island-inspired experience for travelers.
The lounge’s interior features warm, island-influenced decor and thoughtful layouts that balance privacy and social space. Upon arrival, guests are greeted in a comfortable reception area; beyond that are dedicated zones for watching television, working quietly at well-equipped workstations, and refreshing with on-site showers and secure locker rooms. Large windows offer runway views, creating a calming connection to the airport environment. A buffet highlights local Tahitian flavors and regional specialties, giving passengers a final taste of the islands before departure.
Air Tahiti Nui has included several tailored services to enhance the guest experience. Celebratory travelers can enjoy complimentary Champagne and specially curated Fauchon gift boxes. The airline also provides lounge access passes for non-Gold economy passengers, allowing more customers to benefit from the lounge’s amenities. Additionally, priority passes are available for economy-class passengers who want faster check-in and boarding, plus expedited baggage delivery on arrival.
The new lounge is part of a broader set of improvements Air Tahiti Nui has introduced this year to modernize passenger services. Since October 23, the airline expanded self-service check-in at Faa’a, enabling customers to check in for all flights from as early as 36 hours before departure. This enhancement reduces queue times and gives travelers greater flexibility in planning their airport arrival.
Also launched in October was a refreshed catering program on flights between Faa’a and Narita (NRT). Two experienced Japanese chefs collaborated on the new menu and personally trained the Tahitian cabin crews in preparation and presentation techniques. The result is a menu designed to meet Japanese culinary expectations while incorporating regional ingredients where appropriate.
During the summer, Air Tahiti Nui announced a new codeshare agreement with American Airlines that expands international connectivity for passengers traveling from Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR). Those itineraries include a connection through Los Angeles (LAX), and the schedule allows for overnight stays or extended layovers when needed, giving travelers flexible options for rest or exploring the city between flights.
Taken together, the new lounge and service upgrades reflect Air Tahiti Nui’s focus on improving the travel experience through comfort, convenience, and a stronger connection to Polynesian culture. Passengers flying to and from Faa’a can expect a more seamless journey—from early self-service check-in to elevated onboard dining and the relaxed atmosphere of the new lounge before departure.
The airline’s ongoing investments aim to blend efficient, modern travel services with the warmth and character associated with Tahiti. Whether traveling for leisure or business, passengers benefit from expanded service choices, enhanced boarding and baggage processes, and curated amenities that make the airport wait feel more like part of the holiday.
