South Pacific carrier Air Tahiti Nui will begin a multi-million dollar refurbishment of its Airbus A340-300 fleet starting April 1. The overhaul includes a new in-flight entertainment system and a full cabin redesign across the aircraft.
The upgraded entertainment system will offer on-demand access to a broad selection of movies and television shows, along with digital magazines, games and music, improving the passenger experience on long-haul routes. Cabin changes will convert the fleet to a two-class layout and enhance both business and economy offerings.
In business class, the airline will expand seating from 24 to 32 seats and introduce angled lie-flat cocoon seats designed for greater privacy and comfort on overnight flights. Economy class will get new lightweight seats that improve comfort while supporting operational efficiency.
Air Tahiti Nui operates A340-300 services from its Tahiti (PPT) hub to Auckland (AKL), Tokyo (NRT), Paris (CDG) and Los Angeles (LAX). The carrier also maintains codeshare agreements that extend its network to 37 additional destinations through partners such as American Airlines, Air France, Air New Zealand, Japan Airlines and Qantas, as well as connections with the SNCF rail system in France.
This modernization aims to refresh the onboard product, enhance passenger comfort and bring the carrier’s long-haul cabins in line with contemporary expectations for entertainment, seating and overall service quality.
