Air Canada Cuts Codeshare Capacity on United Airlines Flights

Air Canada has removed its marketing code from a selection of United Airlines-operated flights to the United States. The change took effect on Dec. 10 and affects services to several of United’s major hubs, including Chicago (ORD), Houston (IAH) and Newark (EWR).

Passengers originally booked on flights carrying an Air Canada code will now be reaccommodated under the operating United Airlines flight number. This adjustment applies to the following city pairs:

  • YUL/YYZ–EWR
  • YYC/YYZ–IAH
  • YUL/YYZ–ORD
  • YVR–SFO
  • YVR–LAX

Air Canada has provided specific rebooking guidance for agents handling affected tickets:

  • Rebook customers onto the United Airlines operating flight number, retaining the original ticketed booking class (RBD) where possible.
  • If the original booking class is unavailable, rebook into the lowest available booking class (RBD) within the same cabin/compartment.
  • Follow the correct ticketing procedures and include the required ticket endorsement: REISSUE DUE SKCH.

Agents and customers seeking additional information can consult the Agent Reference section of the Air Canada agent website for complete instructions and any updates related to the change.
