Business travelers often find Moscow among the most expensive international destinations for work trips. A recent survey by HRG, a global travel management company, identified Moscow as having the highest average hotel rate worldwide. In 2015, the average nightly hotel rate in Moscow was $366.69. Trailing Moscow in hotel costs were São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, followed by Mexico City and Sydney.
The biannual HRG hotel survey indicates that many hotels fell short of their expected growth, prompting them to increase rates to meet financial targets. To counteract these higher prices over the next few years, major hotel groups plan to introduce revised pricing models and enhanced loyalty rewards for frequent travelers, aimed at making discounted rooms more accessible for business travelers abroad.
