Boutique Bed & Breakfast Wins Five-Star Quality Assurance Award

Known for its glacial glens, pristine lochs and historic castles, Scotland remains a top destination for both business and leisure travelers. The country offers a wide range of accommodation options, from large hotels to charming bed and breakfasts. One standout is the award-winning boutique B&B Fionn Lodge.

Fionn Lodge recently earned the VisitScotland Five Star B&B Quality Assurance Award on its first-ever grading. Located overlooking the first green of the Royal Dornoch Championship golf course, the lodge features a roof terrace with panoramic views, direct garden access and a gourmet breakfast served to guests. Visitors stay in comfortable suites with premium amenities and can explore the surrounding town, steeped in history and home to a castle and a 13th-century cathedral.

Owners and operators Gordon and Hilary Sutherland commented, “When we opened as a boutique B&B in June this year, our aim was to provide our guests with a high-quality hospitality experience. We are delighted that this approach has resulted in us being the first B&B in Dornoch to be awarded a 5 Star rating from the national tourism organisation, particularly due to the objective nature of the award.”

The Sutherlands have exceeded their initial goals, focusing on attentive service and thoughtful details to create a memorable stay for visitors. Their commitment to quality is reflected in the Five Star rating and the positive experiences reported by guests.

Fionn Lodge’s combination of a scenic setting, refined accommodations and local character makes it an appealing option for travelers seeking an intimate, high-standard stay in Scotland. Whether guests come for the golf course views, the historic town, or a peaceful getaway, the lodge delivers a hospitality experience built around comfort, quality and genuine care.
