Iberia Expands Flights Between Madrid and London — New Service Details

To meet rising demand, Iberia has added three weekly services between London (LHR) and Santiago, Chile (SCL), operating via Madrid (MAD). These additional flights raise the airline’s weekly rotations on the route to 10, an increase of roughly 43 percent. The extra frequencies will run through March using Iberia’s Airbus A340 aircraft, deployed in either 289- or 346-seat configurations.

Like other long-haul routes in its network, Iberia is rolling out upgraded cabins on services to and from Santiago. The enhanced Business Plus cabin offers seats that transform into fully flat beds and provide direct aisle access for each passenger. In addition to greater privacy and comfort, the cabin features an updated in-flight entertainment system with 15.4-inch touchscreens, improving the onboard experience on these long overnight sectors.

These additional frequencies reflect Iberia’s response to stronger passenger demand on the London–Santiago corridor, driven by both leisure and business travel. By increasing capacity and refreshing onboard products, the carrier aims to attract travelers seeking better comfort on transatlantic journeys while maintaining convenient connections through its Madrid hub.

Passengers flying on the new services can expect the same operational routing through Madrid as other Iberia flights to South America, with coordinated connections to regional destinations. The use of A340 equipment provides consistent seat maps and service levels across the expanded schedule, enabling travelers to select flights that best match their timing and seating preferences.

Overall, the temporary boost in frequencies until March gives travelers more options and flexibility for planning trips between the UK and Chile, and it underscores Iberia’s focus on adapting capacity to market needs while introducing upgraded onboard amenities on long-haul sectors.
