New at WOW: Porto’s Cultural District Events This Summer & Fall

WOW, The New Cultural District in Porto, Portugal, brings a lively mix of culture, dining and entertainment to Vila Nova de Gaia’s historic port warehouse quarter. Housed in carefully restored wine cellars, WOW combines seven immersive museum experiences with a diverse food and drink scene—12 restaurants, bars, cafés, retail shops and a wine school—making it an ideal summer and autumn destination.

Embrace Your Inner Barbie and Ken at The Pink Palace

The Pink Palace is a playful, immersive experience for fans of all things pink—and for anyone who enjoys interactive, photogenic environments. Across 11 themed rooms, visitors explore vibrant installations designed for social-media moments while sampling a curated selection of rosé wines, such as Quinta do Vale do Bragão Rosé and Croft Pink Rosé. The attraction blends whimsical décor with guided tastings to offer both fun and flavor education.

The Chocolat Festival Portugal

Chocolat Festival Portugal returns for a second year, promising four days of chocolate discovery from Oct. 19–22. The festival gathers artisan and international chocolate brands to showcase a variety of cacao origins and techniques. It’s a sensory event for chocolate lovers and anyone curious about new flavors and confectionery trends.

Escape Room “Mission: Save the Museum”

Mission: Save the Museum is WOW’s new immersive escape room inside The Bridge Collection. Teams work through layered puzzles, interpret cryptic clues and examine mysterious artifacts to recover a missing piece before time runs out. The experience blends theatrical staging with interactive problem-solving for visitors seeking an engaging, hands-on challenge.

The Tate Collection x WOW

Running through Sept. 30, The Atkinson Museum at WOW partners with The Tate Collection to present The Dynamic Eye, an exhibition featuring more than 100 rare works. The show highlights experiments in optical and kinetic art from 63 international artists, offering visitors an immersive journey through paintings, sculptures and works on paper that play with perception and movement.

Become a Certified Sommelier

The Wine School at WOW offers WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) courses suited to travelers, professionals and wine enthusiasts. Courses cover tasting technique, theory and an introduction to Portuguese wine regions, giving students a practical foundation in wine knowledge. The Wine School also plans guided day trips to notable Portuguese wine areas to complement classroom learning.
