The W Seattle has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that introduces redesigned guestrooms, an updated Living Room lobby, a refreshed restaurant and enhanced meeting spaces. Planned for the near future is North America’s first W Sound Suite: a fully equipped private music studio and writing room tailored for traveling recording artists and musicians.
“W Seattle is an iconic part of the city’s social scene; a place for guests to relax and enjoy the W brand’s signature cocktail culture and somewhere for locals to let their hair down. Along with commitments from our ownership groups, the renovation of W Seattle is part of an overall W brand strategy to continue investing in our North American portfolio. Demand for the W brand in the United States and abroad is as hot as ever,” said Anthony Ingham, global brand leader for W Hotels Worldwide.
The lobby has been reimagined with an urban lodge atmosphere, featuring tree-ring patterned flooring and a striking DJ booth crafted from an airplane turbine. Guestrooms now showcase a refreshed palette of bold blues, purples and yellows. Each room centers on a headboard made from stacked wooden beams with integrated LED lighting, creating a warm, contemporary focal point. Subtle aviation references appear throughout the rooms, such as throw blankets depicting Boeing 747 models and pillows printed with jet imagery.
“The inspiration for the rooms and suites of W Seattle is shaped by the juxtaposition of Seattle culture and outdoor recreation. Before we took on the design, we spent time observing the lifestyle of the city. We could see that Seattleites are naturally connected to their region, with a close relationship between urban and rural. We wanted W Seattle’s design to mirror the city’s widespread tech innovation, yet make deference to the area’s inherent beauty,” explained Kajsa Krause, principal at Krause + Sawyer, the design firm behind much of the renovation concept.
The redesign balances modern, tech-forward touches with materials and motifs that reflect the Pacific Northwest’s natural landscape. Public spaces are intended to feel inviting to both travelers and locals, supporting social gatherings, creative work and nightlife. Meeting rooms and event areas were updated to offer flexible layouts and contemporary finishes, better accommodating business groups and private functions.
By introducing specialized amenities like the forthcoming W Sound Suite, the property aims to attract a creative clientele, including musicians and producers who require on-site recording and writing facilities. This addition complements the hotel’s broader focus on culture, entertainment and locally inspired design.
Overall, the renovation positions W Seattle to deepen its role in the city’s hospitality scene by blending stylish, contemporary design with regional character. The refreshed guestrooms, revitalized lobby and upgraded event spaces were all conceived to create a lively, sophisticated environment that reflects Seattle’s unique mix of innovation and natural beauty.
