Air China has launched a new direct service connecting China and Cuba, providing travelers with a convenient travel option between Beijing and Havana.
The airline operates the Beijing (PEK)–Havana (HAV) route three times weekly using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The total journey time is approximately 19.5 hours and includes a scheduled refueling stop in Montreal (YUL).
Wang Yinxiang, vice chairman of Air China, said the Beijing–Montreal–Havana route fills a longstanding gap in air connectivity between China and both Cuba and the wider Caribbean. The service is expected to strengthen economic, trade, cultural and tourism ties between the regions while offering passengers more efficient flight choices.
This route launch is part of Air China’s broader international expansion. In 2015 the carrier added 29 international routes, and its network now spans six continents.
With Havana added to its schedule, Air China now serves 11 destinations in the Americas, including New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Houston (IAH), Vancouver (YVR), Montreal (YUL), Honolulu (HNL), São Paulo (GRU) and Washington, D.C. (IAD).
At the inauguration ceremony, Alberto Blanco, Cuba’s ambassador to China, extended warm congratulations on the launch of the Beijing–Havana service and expressed hope that the new route will benefit people in both countries and contribute to their social and economic development, the airline said in a statement.
