New Yorkers planning a lively getaway to Rio de Janeiro will soon find it easier to reach the Brazilian city, as Delta Air Lines is introducing a new nonstop route from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Beginning Dec. 21, Delta intends to operate daily nonstop flights between JFK and Rio de Janeiro, pending approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The service will be operated with a Boeing 767-300, configured with 35 Delta One full lie-flat seats, 32 Delta Comfort+ seats and 143 Main Cabin seats. Onboard amenities will include large personal entertainment screens, an expanded on-demand in-flight entertainment selection, Latin-inspired meal options and enhanced WiFi service.
“We listen to our customers and continuously strive to offer them increasingly convenient ways to travel, both for business and leisure,” said Luciano Macagno, Delta Air Lines’ Brazil director. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to offer a daily direct flight from Rio de Janeiro to our second-largest international hub at New York-JFK. Delta’s continued route expansions demonstrate our commitment to the Brazilian market and the strength of our alliance with our Brazilian partner, GOL.”
