Looking for a different kind of getaway? Actor and martial artist Adrian Paul, known for the Highlander television series, is leading a seven-day, six-night retreat at Belize Ocean Club Resort in Placencia beginning Nov. 12. The Sword XP Belize Retreat blends conditioning, flexibility work, yoga and sword-combat instruction taught by Paul against the backdrop of tropical beaches and nearby Mayan ruins.
Each day features two training sessions focused on foundational swordsmanship, functional strength, mobility and breath work. Lessons are designed for all skill levels, so whether you are new to martial arts or have prior training you can progress at your own pace. Instructors emphasize safe technique, fluid movement and practical drills that translate to improved fitness and coordination.
Beyond training, the retreat includes guided excursions to local archaeological sites and nature walks that highlight the region’s coastal and jungle environments. Participants can also relax at the resort’s pool, snorkel or dive in the clear Caribbean waters, and enjoy free time to explore Placencia village and nearby wildlife areas. Meals and on-site amenities are arranged to support recovery and comfort throughout the week.
Attendees benefit from a balanced schedule that mixes active practice with downtime, allowing for personal reflection and social connection with fellow participants. Small-group instruction ensures individualized attention, and daily programming is adaptable to accommodate recovery needs, travel schedules and varying fitness levels.
