Wine enthusiasts will enjoy the Urban Wine Trail, which links more than 20 tasting rooms across the Presidio neighborhood and the nearby Funk Zone. If your schedule allows, a short drive north leads to the expansive vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley. The Urban Wine Trail, however, lets you sample regional wines without leaving downtown and provides a great excuse to explore the Funk Zone’s galleries, studios and street art.
Visit the tasting rooms at your own pace—spend an hour at one or hop between several. Wine production in the region dates back to 1782, and the area is known for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. The cool ocean influence and varied terrain of the Santa Ynez Valley support more than 65 grape varieties today, so there’s plenty to discover for every palate.
As the sun sinks into the Pacific—best enjoyed from Stearns Wharf or a rooftop bar—the city’s nightlife comes alive. Large outdoor venues like the 4,500-seat Santa Barbara Bowl host major performers, while smaller venues, galleries and bars throughout the Funk Zone feature local and touring musicians. Live music is woven into the city’s culture, offering a range of intimate and energetic experiences.
