Hotel Maren Fort Lauderdale Beach Review – Curio Collection by Hilton

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: I stayed in Fort Lauderdale during the Cruise World Convention at the Broward Convention Center, where industry leaders gather to present new destinations, itineraries, ship enhancements and other trends in cruising. My accommodations were at Hotel Maren Fort Lauderdale Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton, a distinctive stairstep-style property on A1A and less than 10 minutes from the convention center, directly on Las Olas Beach.

On arrival I was welcomed by general manager Ryan Koppl. Staff efficiently handled my check-in, escorted me to the elevators and showed me to my room on the 10th floor. The friendly, attentive service set a positive tone for the stay.

GUEST QUARTERS: The room’s layout felt like a horseshoe: a long entry hallway on one side, a central area with a king-sized bed and lounge, and the closet and bathroom opposite. The space was generous, with high ceilings, a dedicated work area, a separate sink, a mini-fridge and a coffee station. Decor in shades of blue and cream suggested sand and sea, and the room’s lighting was notably strong—an often-overlooked detail that made the space comfortable for both work and relaxation.

Being a beachfront hotel, expectations were already high, and Hotel Maren met and exceeded them when I stepped onto the balcony and saw the Atlantic. Strong winds limited outdoor time during my visit, but I frequently drew back the floor-to-ceiling drapes to enjoy the ocean view from inside.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: For dining I visited the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Riviera. My server, Austin, recommended the Riviera meatballs—Angus beef served with ricotta, tomato and toasted sesame seed bread—which were an excellent starter. For the main course I had frutti di mare: mussels, clams, calamari and shrimp in a rich lobster butter sauce. Dessert was a light lemon cake topped with berries, coconut and coated hazelnuts. Each course was well prepared and the service was attentive.

Beyond dining, Hotel Maren offers Acqua Pool Bar on the fifth floor, a fitness center, plenty of lounge space with fire pits and valet parking—amenities that cater to both relaxation and convenience.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Located steps from Las Olas Beach, Hotel Maren is ideal for those who want easy access to the water and beachfront activities.
  • Family-friendly: a park adjacent to the hotel provides play options for children and a nice outdoor space for families to enjoy.
  • Convenient for dining and shopping: numerous restaurants and shops along the beach are within walking distance.
