Mandarin Oriental Launches Luxury Resort on Lake Como

Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como reopens on April 15 after a comprehensive renovation of the historic lakefront estate. Nestled in the quiet village of Blevio, close to central Como and convenient airports, the hotel offers a private, nature-rich setting on the shores of Lake Como.

The property occupies the 19th-century Villa Roccabruna and now features 21 guest rooms, 52 suites and two private villas. The refurbishment refreshes the accommodations and public areas with a tasteful blend of Italian elegance and Asian influences, retaining the building’s historic character while introducing contemporary comforts.

Outdoor and communal spaces have been carefully redesigned to enhance the guest experience. A botanical garden showcases around 50 species of plants, trees and flowers, creating tranquil walking paths and natural views. CO.MO Bar & Bistrot provides a relaxed lakeside terrace for casual meals and drinks, while L’Aria serves contemporary fine dining with lake views and a focus on seasonal ingredients. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como includes four private treatment suites, a beauty salon, a well-equipped fitness center and a variety of heat and water therapies tailored for relaxation and wellbeing.

Samuel Porreca, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como, commented on the reopening: “We are looking forward to welcoming our first guests to Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como very soon. Mandarin Oriental’s first resort in Europe will be a welcome destination for discerning travellers looking for ultimate privacy, unparalleled views and award-winning cuisine, supported by the brand’s legendary service.”

With its combination of historic architecture, carefully curated gardens and a range of dining and wellness offerings, Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como aims to provide a refined lakeside retreat. The hotel’s location in Blevio allows guests to enjoy both the peaceful waterfront environment and easy access to Como’s cultural attractions, shopping and transportation links.

Guests can expect thoughtfully designed rooms and suites that blend local craftsmanship with modern amenities, creating comfortable spaces for relaxation and privacy. The two private villas offer an elevated level of seclusion for families or groups seeking extended stays with personalized service and exclusive access to the estate’s facilities.

The culinary program emphasizes fresh, regional produce and contemporary presentation. CO.MO Bar & Bistrot caters to informal dining throughout the day, while L’Aria focuses on refined, multi-course experiences that highlight the flavors of Lombardy and the wider Italian culinary tradition. Both outlets take advantage of the hotel’s lakeside position to deliver memorable dining moments with scenic vistas.

The spa and wellness facilities are designed to support a holistic approach to relaxation. In addition to private treatment suites and a beauty salon, guests can access a fitness center and a selection of hydrotherapy and thermal experiences intended to rejuvenate body and mind. The hotel’s landscaping and garden areas further contribute to an atmosphere of calm and natural beauty.

Overall, the renovated Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como presents a balanced fusion of heritage and contemporary luxury, offering visitors privacy, high-quality service and a strong sense of place on one of Italy’s most iconic lakeshores.
