Susana Balbo, Argentina’s celebrated winemaker, has opened her first hotel: SB Winemaker’s House & Spa Suites in the Mendoza wine region. Drawing on more than four decades in the wine industry and numerous international honors, Balbo and her daughter Ana Lovaglio Balbo have created a luxury boutique hotel that reflects the culture, landscape and winemaking tradition of the region.

Located for guests who want to immerse themselves in Mendoza’s wines and traditions, the property offers seven spa suites with fully integrated in-room spa features and services—making it one of the only luxury wine hotels in Latin America to include such amenities. The hotel also showcases works by 20 distinguished Argentine and Brazilian artists, weaving local art and history into the guest experience.
Each suite is designed for relaxation and privacy. All seven feature a steam room, sensations shower, massage table, a curated wine fridge and traditional dyed llama-wool blankets crafted by rural Argentine women. Four suites add a dry sauna. The glass-walled accommodations open onto private gardens with outdoor firepits and heated loungers shielded by volcanic stone walls and foliage. Guests arriving at the loungers enjoy a complimentary 15-minute massage.

Turndown service includes in-suite aromatherapy and baths in tubs inspired by the concrete egg fermentation tanks used in winemaking. The hotel’s Wellness Butler guides guests through a selection of wellness rituals using local herbs and ingredients. Treatments range from geothermal-therapy massages to detox and body exfoliation therapies tailored to individual preferences.

On site, the hotel restaurant La VidA serves Argentinian cuisine that emphasizes bold flavors and sustainable, organic ingredients. Guests may dine in the main dining room or reserve the intimate Chef’s Table, which overlooks open-flame cooking. The Chef’s Table menu features locally sourced dishes paired with Susana Balbo wines or other carefully selected bottles.
La VidA also offers an à la carte menu and a four-course set dinner, each of which can be paired with wines from the hotel’s extensive cellar or with signature cocktails from the bar. The cellar includes a curated selection of top Argentine and international wines for guests to enjoy.
To explore Mendoza’s landscape and culture, the hotel’s Experience Curator arranges tailored activities ranging from scenic bike rides and horseback excursions to multiday trips. Sample destinations include San Rafael, Cafayate, Esteros del Iberá and Patagonia. The curator can also organize rafting, tennis, yoga, golf and other pursuits on request, as well as culinary experiences such as cooking and grilling classes and guided wine tours and tastings.
