Omni King Edward Hotel Reopens After Stunning Renovation

Toronto’s iconic The Omni King Edward Hotel has reopened after an extensive $40 million restoration. Originally built in 1903, the hotel’s renovation modernizes guestrooms, meeting facilities, the lobby, restaurants and bar while carefully preserving the property’s historic charm.

“There is a delicate balance between maintaining history, and keeping the beauty and elegance that makes a place like this so very special, while also becoming modern and delivering what discerning guests want and need today,” said Christophe Le Chatton, general manager of The Omni King Edward Hotel. “I believe we have struck this balance with stunning results, and I am proud to reintroduce The Omni King Edward in all of her splendor.”

The renovation project began in fall 2013 and updated all 301 guestrooms and suites to combine classic elegance with contemporary amenities. The lobby received new furnishings while its decorative ceiling and wood-paneled walls were carefully restored to highlight original architectural details. Public dining and social spaces were refreshed: the Consort Bar and Victoria’s Restaurant were revitalized and now offer updated menus and refreshed interiors. Ballrooms and meeting rooms were fully renovated to meet modern event needs while retaining historic character.

As part of the relaunch, The Omni King Edward introduced the Royal Club, a premium offering that includes 29 stylish guestrooms and suites with enhanced services. Royal Club guests enjoy access to the VIP Royal Club Lounge, breakfast and snack service, business center privileges, complimentary use of boardrooms and car service—features designed to appeal to both leisure and business travelers seeking elevated comfort and convenience.

The restoration honors the hotel’s long history while integrating modern comforts and technology to serve today’s guests. By blending preserved architectural details with upgraded service offerings and contemporary design touches, The Omni King Edward aims to provide a refined stay that reflects Toronto’s heritage and meets modern expectations for hospitality.
