The first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales will officially begin service next July with the launch of the Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train. This elegant new service marries classic railway heritage with contemporary British cuisine, design and culture. Onboard dining is led by Chef Simon Rogan, and a dedicated wellness suite offers therapies to relax and rejuvenate passengers.

The train departs from London and offers three-night journeys with a choice of three scenic routes: Cornwall, the Lake District and Wales. During daytime stops, passengers can join optional guided excursions that highlight each region’s landscapes, heritage and local culture. Examples include a private tour and dinner at Hauser & Wirth Somerset and its restaurant Da Costa, guided hikes in Wales, wild swimming in the Lake District, and visits to the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in Cornwall.

It is possible to combine two regional routes into one continuous journey: the Cornwall and Lake District itineraries run Friday–Monday, while the Wales route operates Monday–Thursday, allowing flexible planning for longer trips.
In the evenings, guests can unwind in The Bar, located in the Observation Car. Drawing inspiration from Victorian apothecaries, The Bar presents botanically inspired cocktails alongside a carefully chosen selection of artisan gins and craft beers, creating a relaxed social space with panoramic views.
Each route features bespoke dining throughout the day, with curated afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus that showcase the best local ingredients and regional specialties. Meals are designed to reflect the character and produce of the areas visited.
Accommodations are arranged in double cabins on the three-night journeys. Packages include excursions, all onboard meals and a selection of wines and alcoholic beverages, offering a comprehensive luxury travel experience that highlights British landscapes, food and hospitality.
