United Expands Caribbean Routes: New Flights and Destinations

United Airlines is adding another warm-weather option this winter with the launch of service to St. Kitts, its 18th Caribbean destination. The carrier will begin non-stop flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts starting Dec. 19, operating weekly on Saturdays through April 30, 2016.

United will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route, with seating configurations that typically accommodate between 154 and 166 passengers. The new nonstop link improves connections from St. Kitts to several major U.S. feeder gateways, including Washington D.C.’s Reagan National and Dulles International airports, Baltimore/Washington International, Boston Logan and Chicago O’Hare.

“The launch of this new service from United is very significant for St. Kitts, particularly as many of our new hotel developments including Belle Mont Farm at Kittitian Hill, Park Hyatt St. Kitts at Christophe Harbour, Koi Resort & Residences and Embassy Suites by Hilton St. Kitts are open or opening within the next few years,” said Lindsay F.P. Grant, honorary minister of tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce. “To support the growth in available room stock, a simultaneous growth of our airlift is required. The Northeastern U.S. has historically been our largest source market for visitors, and these new flights also allow for more connections from key gateways in and near this region.”

This seasonal service is aimed at travelers seeking winter sun and leisure travelers visiting new and expanding resorts on the island. By linking Newark with St. Kitts, United adds direct access from a major Northeast hub and expands options for passengers connecting from other U.S. cities served by United to reach the Caribbean destination.

Passengers can expect the standard amenities and onboard service associated with United’s 737-800 fleet on these flights. The route’s schedule and weekly frequency make it suitable for short getaways and longer stays alike, as well as for resort guests arriving for the opening of new properties or the busy winter season.

With this addition, United continues to grow its Caribbean network, offering more nonstop choices for travelers and enhancing air service to islands that are seeing investment in hospitality and tourism infrastructure. The new Newark–St. Kitts route complements existing connections and supports the island’s efforts to attract visitors from the Northeastern United States and beyond.
