British Airways Cancels Winter Flights to Peru — What Travelers Need to Know

British Airways has suspended its Gatwick–Lima, Peru (LIM) service for the upcoming winter season. The route, which began in 2016, previously provided the only direct link between London and Lima and offered convenient onward connections with oneworld partner LATAM.

The airline operated the route with a three-class Boeing 777, flying three times a week in summer and twice weekly in winter. Although the winter plan had been to maintain a twice-weekly schedule on Wednesdays and Sundays, a British Airways spokesperson confirmed a temporary suspension for the winter months. “We regularly review our schedule to ensure that we are flying to destinations popular with our customers during the months they wish to travel,” the airline said. “As such we will be suspending flights to Peru this winter while demand is lower, and instead will increase our flights to Mauritius. This winter we will now be flying direct from Gatwick to Mauritius five times a week.”

Passengers already booked on the Gatwick–Lima flights are being rebooked via Madrid (MAD). The carrier has indicated it will monitor demand and make schedule adjustments as needed for future seasons.

This change reflects seasonal network adjustments common among long-haul carriers, which often reallocate aircraft and frequencies to match demand patterns and maximize connectivity through partner airlines and hubs.
